ARTIST RESIDENCY - LOS ANGELES

ELLSWORTH ARTIST RESIDENCY: ART SHARE L.A.

Artist-in-residence at L.A. Art Share in Los Angeles, CA, October 2024 - January 2025

After nearly a decade working primarily in graphite and mixed media, my residency at Art Share L.A. marked a significant turning point in my practice. With dedicated studio space in Downtown Los Angeles and a residency stipend, I used the opportunity to step outside of the materials and processes that had defined my mixed-media work and begin learning oil painting through traditional Old Master techniques.

Working in an entirely new medium shifted not only how I approached color, light, and form, but the direction of my practice as a whole. The residency became the foundation for my transition from mixed media into painting, opening a new period of experimentation that continues to shape the work I make today.
